Where is IFSC Code on Cheque
Location on Cheque
The IFSC code is printed at the top of every cheque leaf, usually on the left side. It appears near the bank name and branch details.
How to Identify It
- Look for an 11-character code starting with 4 letters
- The 5th character is always 0
- It is different from the MICR code (which is at the bottom in magnetic ink)
- Example: SBIN0001234 for an SBI branch
Other Codes on Your Cheque
- IFSC Code — Top of cheque (for electronic transfers)
- MICR Code — Bottom in special font (for cheque processing)
- Cheque Number — Bottom left (unique to each cheque leaf)
- Account Number — Not printed on all cheques
